Copyright details for "The Essentials of Archery, HOw to use and Make Bows and Arrows", by L. E. Stemmler

This book was published in 1937 by L.E Stemmler in New York. A reprint was made in 1942. The edition has a copyright notice.

Books published in the U.S.A. between 1923 and 1964 require a copyright notice to claim copyright, otherwise they are in the public domain. If they do have a copyright notice included, copyright needs to be renewed after 28 years.

Consequently, the first edition should have had its copyright renewed in 1965 and the reprint edition in 1970. The U.S. copyright office renewal records do not show a renewal for these editions from 1964 to 1972. This book is therefore out of copyright in the U.S.A.

This site is hosted on a server in The Netherlands. Under Dutch copyright law, no copyright protection exists if the copyright has expired in the country it was originally published in. The Dutch Copyright Act (Auteurswet 1912) Chapter III, article 42 states:

Notwithstanding the provisions of this chapter, the term of copyright which has already expired in the country of origin of the work may not be invoked in the Netherlands. The first sentence shall not apply to works whose author is a national of a Member State of the European Union or a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area of 2 May 1992.

This book is therefore also in the public domain in The Netherlands.
