Preface

To revive an interest in the delightful pastime of Archery, and to encourage the practice of an art which promises health, pleasure satisfaction, and applause, is the aim of the present undertaking.

Archery requires only to be more generally known, and rendered familiar, to become universally adopted and esteemed.

Much of the present Work, has been extracted from rare and expensive publications. The Author has endeavoured to compress the most valuable information on the subject, and to keep alive that interest which it is calculated to excite; and he hopes that his efforts may tend to raise a desire of becoming acquainted with so charming a recreation, as that which is to be found in the practice of THAT NOBLE INSTRUMENT, THE BOW.
