To furnish data on this subject, the following arrows loaned by Joseph Jessop were measured and tested as to rigidity:
Rigidity is an essential feature of an arrow for the reason that the force of the bowstring exerted upon the nock must be transmitted along its axis in a direct line, without lateral dispersion, if the missile is to obtain maximum momentum.
